Ben's gonna be okay I think. He's going back to the vet on the 10th for a final look but he's got his old spirits back and keeps his eye open. It does look like he's giving you an evil look though whenever he looks at you because one eye has to be kept dialated and the other looks normal. ( l ) _ ( O ) <-- kinda like that if the l was the normal eye and the O the bad one. He isn't blind in it either because when I act like I'm going to poke that eye he knows to close it.
This morning my mom and I went out to run errands and I thought Benny was inside sleeping but when we got back he ran into the garage and waited at the door for someone to open it.
At first I was like, "Hey Ben, what you doing?"
But then he looked at me and I just kinda froze for a second then quickly opened the door for him and left my mom to get the bags from the car.
His left eye was closed and under the eye his fur was clumped together and wet darker than usual. It basically looked like blood was seeping out of his eye.
I grabbed a paper towel, got it wet and caught Benny to try and clean him up a bit.
When I looked at the paper towel it was obviously wasn't dried blood which eased some of my immediate worry and Benny skulked away, eye still closed to hide under my parents bed.
My mom came in then with the grocery bags (she was mad that I'd rushed inside and didn't help her) and I told her about Benny's eye. We fished him out from under the bed and tried to clean it a bit more. He wouldn't open his eye all the way but of what we could see it didn't look normal at all.
My mom called my dad and then we called the vet and we got an appointment 15 minutes later (we were a bit late). In the cat on the way there I got my first good look at Benny's eye and it was gross. Where it was normally the golden orange it was turning darker with a reddish tint.
At the vet we were told he'd been scratched in the eye and that he was bleeding into it and that the stuff leaking out of his eye is puss. We've got to give him three medications now, one once and day and two twice a day.
Now we're leaving on vacation on Saturday any Benny's going to a boarding place and they're charging $1.10 for every time they give him his treatment. That's $5.50 a day since he needs 5 different things a day. After a week and a half on vacation that's going to add up.
I'm also worried that Benny'll go blind in that eye or something and be stuck inside where I know he won't be happy.
My poor Ben.
